In a momentous occasion, the alumni of Sainik School Ghorakhal, 1967 batch gathered to celebrate their Golden Jubilee, reminiscing about shared memories and achievements. The event featured various activities including nostalgic reunions, ceremonial events and collaborative initiatives to give back to the school community. The jubilant atmosphere echoed with pride as old boys came together to honor their alma mater’s rich legacy.
A total of 17 old boys attended the celebrations: Col Akhil Gupta, Brig Kulwant Singh, Dr DPS Rekhi, Maj Gen GP Singh, Col JS Manral, Mr BS Rana, Col Rajesh Saklani, Mr Rajendra Sanwal Pravin Joshi, Mr Parambir Singh Brig Col Akhilanand Pandey, Col Ashok Pathak, Col Divya Prakash, Col Vikram Nim, Col Jawed Husain, Col Jyotirmoy Ghosal and Mr Mohan Singh Bisht.
The proceedings were initiated in the early hours of the moming with a solemn wreath laying ceremony at Shakti Smarak. Brigadier Kulwant Singh, Brigadier Pravin Joshi and Mr Buddhi Singh Rana (a former student) along with all other attendees, were visibly moved by the emotional significance of this event.
Then, there was a grand Band Display. The parade ground echoed with the melodious tunes of band- display. Thereafter, Col Jyotirmoy Ghosal, a veteran of Indian Army, conducted the event in the auditorium. Two minutes silence was observed in honour of the students and the teachers who had left for their heavenly abode.
Maj Gen GP Singh welcomed the Principal, Gp Capt V S Dangwal, Mrs Sweta Dangwal and the ex-teachers. Maj Gen GP Singh and Mrs Indu Singh presented shawls to Mr HC Pandey and Mr PC Rana, who taught the batch 1967-73, fifty years ago. He exhorted the Cadets to strive for excellence and congratulated the school for lifting the Defence Minister’s Trophy nine times. Group photographs were taken to re-live the moments.
The present lot of Cadets presented a cultural programme in the auditorium which was applauded by
all. This was a remarkable reunion glorifying the past and the present.
