Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations at Sainik School Ghorakhal

On the auspicious occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on 2nd Oct.2023, Sainik School Ghorakhal organised various events. The day commenced with the unfurling of the national flag by Gp Capt VS Dangwal, Principal of the school. Thereafter, a special assembly was organised. Cadets delivered speeches on the great leaders of the freedom movement: Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. The girl cadets presented beautiful bhajans: Vaishnav Jan To Tene Kahiye and Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram. The cadets delivered lectures depicting the life of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, in both, Hindi and English. Hindi Speech Competition was organised on the topic “Role of Mahatma Gandhi in the Freedom Movement and its impact on Uttarakhand” in which cadets participated enthusiastically and delivered excellent speeches. Hindi Essay Writing Competition was also organised on the topic “Swacchta Hi Seva”. Group Capt VS Dangwal gave away the prizes to the winners of the competitions.

Classes VI and VII cadets including girl cadets were also awarded prizes for significant contribution towards “Cleanship Drive” conducted under “Swachhata Hi Seva” mission. “Tree Plantation Drive” was also observed along with staff and cadets.

The day concluded with the address by the Principal, Gp Capt VS Dangwal. He elaborated on the leadership qualities. It was a very meaningful and purposeful interactive session in which cadets contributed significantly. He reminded us of the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters during freedom movement. He discussed the officer like qualities like social responsibility, social adaptability, and humanity and correlated the same with the great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. He emphasized the importance of “Effective Communication Skills’ also. The mission “Swacchta Hi Seva” concluded successfully today under the able guidance and close supervision of Gp Capt VS Dangwal.
