TWO DAY NCERT WORKSHOP ON NEP 2020 AT SAINIK SCHOOL GHORAKHAL
Sainik School Ghorakhal had the privilege to host two day workshop inaugurated on Dec 5, 2025 bringing together educators, academic leaders and resource persons for an intensive capacity-building programme. The workshop was coordinated by the Department of Curriculum Studies & Development, NCERT. The workshop was formally inaugurated by Prof. Dinesh Prasad Saklani, Director, NCERT, who graced the campus as the Chief Guest and delivered an insightful and inspiring address focusing on the transformative vision of NEP 2020. The inaugural session was graced by NCERT experts, including Prof. Ranjana Arora, Head, Department of Curriculum Studies and Development; Prof. K. Vijayan; Dr. Sukhvinder, Department of Curriculum Studies and Development, NCERT; and Dr. Ashish Srivastava from DESM, NCERT. The event also saw the participation of faculty members from Sainik School Ghorakhal, along with principals and teachers representing 50 State Schools, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), and other CBSE-affiliated institutions.
In his keynote remarks, the Director emphasized the need to move away from the long-followed Macaulay-influenced education system and adopt a model rooted in Indian ethos, knowledge traditions, and cultural values. He highlighted that NEP 2020 envisions an education framework that nurtures holistic development, creativity, critical thinking, and national pride. He further underlined that embracing Indian rootedness is essential for shaping confident and capable learners who can contribute meaningfully to nation-building. Stressing the significance of native languages, he reiterated that mother tongue–based education in the foundational years strengthens conceptual understanding and lays the groundwork for academic excellence. Calling NEP 2020 a forward-looking policy, the Director noted that its successful implementation will play a pivotal role in realizing the aspiration of making India a global knowledge superpower.
He highlighted the crucial role of teachers in nurturing creativity, critical thinking, and rootedness in Indian values while preparing students for global competencies. He elaborated on Indian Knowledge System covering all aspects. Prof.Saklani also stressed the importance of experiential learning, competency-based assessment, and the integration of technology to create vibrant, student-centric classrooms.
The workshop included interactive sessions, discussions on curriculum reforms, innovative pedagogical practices and reflections on classroom practices aligned with NEP 2020.
The first day concluded with a collective resolve by participating educators to adopt and promote the vision of NEP 2020 in their institutions.Gp Capt VS Dangwal, Principal Sainik School Ghorakhal expressed his gratitude to the entire NCERT team for conducting this workshop.
