The highly anticipated National Science Festival was organised at Sainik School Ghorakhal in collaboration with National Science Centre, Delhi on 2nd and 3rd Nov 2023. Mr Dinesh Malik, Senior Education Officer, National Science Centre had joined as the guest faculty. The Principal of the school, Gp Capt VS Dangwal received the guest with warm greetings. Mrs Sweta Dangwal and Dr Sushama Singh were the visiting dignitaries. The other attendees included students and faculty from DAV School Haldwani, GD Birla Memorial School, Ranikhet, Ashoka Hall Girls’ School, Ranikhet, Mohan Lal Shah Bal Vidya Mandir, Nainital, Parwati Prema Jagati Saraswati Vihar, Nainital, Green Mount Global School, Bhimtal, Mallikarjun School, Bhimtal, De Vito School, Bhowali. The event commenced with the lamp lighting ceremony followed by Saraswati Vandana by girl cadets of the school.
The festival featured a diverse range of interactive exhibits that showcased the latest advancements in science and technology. These included experiments based on Law of Inertia, Bernoulli’s Principle, Archimedes Principle, Centrifugal Force, Heat Engine, Adiabatic Process, Reaction Time, Electromagnetic Induction, Formation of Tornado, Surface Tension, Relative Density, Concept of Ignition Temperature, Transverse and Longitudinal Waves, Pythagoras Theorem etc. Such exhibits immersed visitors in the fascinating world of scientific innovations. Cadets of Sainik School contributed RFID based Attendance System Project, Arduino Radar Project, Robotic Car and many more. The audience was amazed by mind-blowing science demonstrations witnessing the explorations in the field of Science. The live experiments/working models left the audience in awe.
Various programmes were organized viz. Night Sky Observation, Sun Spots View using the telescope. Science Quiz and Science Exhibition were also organized to showcase the potential of Sainik School cadets. There had been engaging workshop on low cost teaching aids on various subjects. Inspiring talks were delivered on a wide range of science topics to gain insights into the future of space exploration, climate change solutions and many more. Some documentaries on the subject were screened to educate and entertain the audience.
This Science Festival promoted community engagement, allowing attendees to connect with local scientific organizations, schools, and researchers. It’s a great opportunity to get involved in the local scientific community. The students and faculty were immensely benefited.
The Principal of the school, Gp Capt VS Dangwal appreciated the initiatives of the students and
the faculty. Certificates were also awarded to the participants. In his address to the gathering,
he mentioned that such events play an important role in encouraging students to be inquisitive
and think analytically. It allows them to explore hypotheses and find answers on their own.
